Brief Biography John Paul McGowan, FAIA, who partnered with Janet Saad-Cook on the design of their competition entry for the World Trade Center Memorial, is an award-winning architect and an expert on the design and planning of large and complex projects. Mr. McGowan has had a major design role on more than 150 buildings throughout the U.S. and overseas. His background includes extensive experience in educational, research, health care, corporate and institutional buildings. He has taught in the schools of architecture at Yale, Princeton and the Rhode Island School of Design. He has worked with Janet Saad-Cook since 1996 when she was commissioned to create a Sun Drawing for a three-story atrium in the new Photonics Research Center at Boston University . Paul was the Design Principal and Principal in Charge for the new building. Janet's Sun Drawing quickly became one of the most popular works of art on this 25,000 student campus. After more than 34 years of top-level design experience on prestigious projects in the offices of Eero Saarinen, John Carl Warnecke and Cannon Design, Paul McGowan established his own firm in Washington , D.C. in 1999. It provides architectural, planning and interior design services. |
